Hoi An Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.
Hoi An, once a major Southeast Asian trading post in the 16th and 17th centuries, is basically a living museum that houses, old-town architecture. Some notable heritage buildings include Chinese temples, a Japanese-designed bridge, pagodas, wooden shophouses, French-colonial houses, and old canals.
Highlight Attractions:
- Visit the centuries-old homes of merchants, the Tan Ky Ancient House, Chinese Fukien Assembly Halls, Phung Hung house, Quang Dong Assembly Halls, the 400-year-old Japanese Pagoda Bridge, and the colorful, bustling market as well as walk around the narrow streets and alleyways.
